La identidad de la filosofía española

Antonio Guerrero Ruiz

Title: The Identity of Spanish Philosophy
Abstract:
The emergence of the idea of a Spanish philosophy appeared in a context of strong social and political changes. The conviction that philosophy conceptually had a responsibility to its historical moment was evident in the ideas and attitudes of the philosophers of the moment. There is so much evidence of this that it is fair to say that Spanish philosophy as a discipline appeared wearing the dyes of practical philosophy. This was not only a slope but a sign of identity proper to national philosophical production. The clearest example was Nicolás Salmerón, president of the Republic, Krausista and professor of Metaphysics of the central university, although no less were notorious: Unamuno, Ortega y Gasset and others. His political, journalistic and academic work did not go unnoticed in his historical moment. It is therefore not difficult to glimpse that the identity of Spanish philosophy is in practical origin. Moreover, such identity is currently experiencing a crisis. The current Spanish philosophy is not practical so it is moving away from its constitutive identity.
